St. Clair Basketball Hosts Fanshawe

St. Clair College SportsPlex to Host Saturday Basketball Against Fanshawe

The St. Clair College Basketball teams continue their OCAA West Division regular season schedule Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex when they host Fanshawe College (London). The Women’s game starts at 1:00pm followed by the Men’s game at 3:00pm.

The Women’s matchup will feature a pair of .500 teams as the Saints are 2-2 (West 5th Place) while Fanshawe holds a record of 3-3 (West 4th Place). The Falcons entered the provincial rankings this past week at #10 while St. Clair dropped to 7th in the latest OCAA poll.

St. Clair 3rd year transfer guard Kaelyn Batten (Windsor, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) is second in league scoring at 19.8ppg and adds 6.0 rebounds per game. 4th year guard Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) leads the Saints in rebounding at 8.3 per contest to go with 9.0ppg and a team best 5.3 assists per game.

The St. Clair Men (5-0, West 1st Place) rose to the #1 spot in the CCAA National rankings for the first time in program history this week and have been the top-rated team in the province all season. Fanshawe (2-5, West 8th Place) will be looking for an upset to get their season turned around. Dueling styles will be in play as the Saints have the highest output in the province averaging nearly 108 points per game as a team while Fanshawe has held their opponents to the 4th least amount at 72.0 per contest.

St. Clair has six players averaging double figures led by 3rd year transfer guard Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) who is 4th in OCAA scoring at 19.0 points per game while adding 6.2 rebounds per contest. 4th year guard Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON/Oakwood) is netting 15.2ppg with fellow 3rd year transfer swing player Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI/Lincoln) dropping in 13.2ppg for the Saints. 4th year shooting guard Jadon Tillman (Warren, MI) is hitting at 12.8ppg to go with 4.5 assists per game and in only three games 4th year forward Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) has managed an 11.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 2.0 blocked shots average. 5th year swing player Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) is the final Saints in double figures at 11.2ppg but is 2nd in OCAA 3-point shooting making over 57% of his attempts from long range.
