Billy White of the Windsor Express Named Player of the Week
The National Basketball League of Canada has announced that Billy White of the Windsor Express has been named Player of the Week for the week ending March 6, 2022. This is the sixth time White has earned this honour, having claimed it twice with the Moncton Magic and three times with the Halifax Hurricanes.
White, a 6’8” forward who played collegiately at San Diego State, garnered his first triple-double of his NBL Canada career (28 pts, 15 rebs, 11 ast), with a near-perfect 12-for-14 from the floor and 4-4 from the line.
The National Basketball League of Canada extends an honourable mention to Jordan Bedford of the TBL’s Dayton Flight.
Bedford, a 6’0” forward who played collegiately at Bellhaven, scored 42 points in Dayton’s loss against Windsor. Those 42 points included 12 three-point shots, nearly tying the NBL Canada record of 13 long-distance baskets.
The National Basketball League of Canada has also announced that Terry Thomas of the London Lightning has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending March 6, 2022.
Thomas, a 6’4” shooting guard from East Preston, N.S., and who played collegiately at the University at Ottawa, averaged 20.0 points per game in London’s two victories this weekend; he also finished with a 6.0 rebounds per game average, along with a .400 (8-20) 3-point accuracy level.
