Bob Turner Basketball Book For Hospice
Windsor author Bob Turner, a long time friend and supporter of The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County Inc., has written his second book, “The Dynasties & The THREE and how Naismith’s game changed”.
Bob’s first book, “Basketball Rules Here” (2016) was about basketball, but his latest release looks at three other major aspects of the game, both internationally and in Windsor Essex.
It examines the evolution of basketball from December 1891 to the present. There is an emphasis on CHANGE! Changing rules, changing facilities, changing strategies, and changing fundamental skills.
There is an entire section on the three-point shot and what a difference it has made to today’s game. The book honours six local dynasties (Windsor Alumni, AKO, Club 240, Lancer Men, Lancer Women, and Windsor Express) who have all captured a minimum of two national championships.
The book also includes a close and thorough look at the history of women’s basketball in the Windsor and Essex County area. It presents the top 60 women players in the last 60 years and includes players from high school, university and adult teams.
Bob and more than 20 local basketball enthusiasts as well as the Hospice team, have worked tirelessly to distribute and to sell the book, in hopes of making a significant profit for The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc.
The book is sold for $25 online through Hospice 100% of the sales go directly to Hospice since the hospice was fortunate enough to acquire a number of friends and corporations/sponsors who generously financed the printing of this book. All other services, publishing, editing and writing were provided by volunteers, devoted to HOSPICE.
So be sure to get your copy and help support a local charity . . .the books are an ideal gift for local sports lovers, hint, hint!
