2016 CCAA Women’s Basketball Nationals takes place at St. Clair College Sportsplex beginning with arrival of teams March 15, tournament runs March 16-19.

MATCH 1
Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. (ET)

NAIT Ooks (3) vs. VIU Mariners (6)

The Ooks captured the ACAC Championship with a 69-66 victory over St. Mary’s. NAIT, which finished second in the North Division with a 20-4 record in the regular season, ousted the previously unbeaten, and CCAA Women’s Basketball top-ranked, Lethbridge Kodiaks in the conference semi-finals. NAIT will face VIU, which captured gold in the PACWEST Championship final with a 65-51 victory over the Capitano Blues. Led by forward Sienna Pollard, VIU went 19-2 in the regular season to finish atop the conference standings.

Humber Hawks (2) vs. St. Mary’s Lightning (7)

The Humber Hawks captured their second straight OCAA Championship with a dominating 71-43 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers. Led by point guard Ceejay Nofuente, the Hawks went a perfect 18-0 to finish atop the OCAA’s West Division standings. They’ll face the wildcard St. Mary’s Lightning, who were defeated in the ACAC Championship final by the NAIT Ooks. The Lightning, led by Montana Romeril, went 18-3 in the regular season and finished second in the ACAC’s South Division. They ousted the unbeaten Lakeland Rustlers (24-0) in the conference semi-finals.

Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. (ET)

Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy (1) vs. St. Clair Saints (8)

Sainte-Foy dethroned three-time defending National Champion Montmorency with an 87-76 victory in the RSEQ Championship final. Sainte-Foy finished tied atop the conference standings with a 15-3 record in the regular season. The last ten CCAA Women’s Basketball Champions have come from the RSEQ. They’ll face the host Saints, who went 13-5 this season and finished fourth in the OCAA’s tough West Division. St. Clair was defeated by division-rival Humber 90-81 in the OCAA quarter-finals.

MATCH 4
Thursday, March 17 at 8:15 p.m. (ET)

Holland Hurricanes (4) vs. Nomades de Montmorency (5)

The Hurricanes defeated the Crandall Chargers 82-54 for the ACAA Championship. Jazlin Barker and Jenea Barrett led Holland to an 18-2 record and first-place finish in the regular season. They’ll face Montmorency, the RSEQ’s wildcard entry which happens to be the three-time defending CCAA Women’s Basketball Champions. The Nomades went 15-3 this season to finish in a tie for first place with Sainte-Foy in the RSEQ. Montmorency fell to the Dynamiques however in the gold-medal match.
