Windsor Express Partner with Windsor Lancers for Clash at the Colosseum IV
The Windsor Express have announced a partnership with the University of Windsor Lancers for the fourth annual Clash at the Colosseum IV on February 8, 2017 at Caesars Windsor.
This year’s event will feature a triple-header of basketball games pitting Windsor against teams from the Waterloo region. The Express will face off against league newcomers the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans at 8 p.m., while prior to the Express game the Lancers will take on the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in an Ontario University doubleheader. The Lancer women will tip-off at 3 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 5 p.m. This event marks the first time the Lancers and Express have teamed up to play on the same court.
“This game is a highlight to our season and our organization does a good job of making this game special,” said Windsor Express Vice-President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Bill Jones. “This year is also special because the University’s men’s and women’s teams will play before our game and the electricity will be awesome.”
Fans who purchase a ticket to this season’s Clash at the Colosseum will be able to attend all three games. Tickets will be on sale online December 7, 2016 and are available online.
A special discounted ticket will be available on campus in the athletic department for all current University of Windsor students.
“The Lancers, along with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, are excited to partner with the Windsor Express as participants in the 4th Annual Clash at the Colosseum,” said University of Windsor Director of Athletics Mike Havey. “The opportunity to play in this world class entertainment venue in a “Battle against Waterloo” provides a unique and exciting opportunity for our basketball teams to bring our product to a wider audience.”
Both the University of Windsor women’s and men’s basketball programs are perennial powerhouses in Canadian University Basketball and have both been ranked in the top ten nationally for the better part of the past decade. The Lancer women’s team is currently ranked seventh in the nation and are looking for their sixth national championship title in the last seven years after winning five in a row from 2011-2015. Under the guidance of head coach Chantal Vallée, the Lancers currently sit tied for first place in the OUA west division standings with the Golden Hawks.
On the men’s side, head coach Chris Oliver’s team is in search of their seventh OUA West division title in the past ten years and also looking for their fourth trip to the national championship tournament. Standing in their way are the Golden Hawks who are currently neck and neck with the Lancers atop the western conference standings.

A limited number of reserved courtside seats will be available for purchase directly through the Windsor Express. VIP and courtside seats are not yet on sale.
