Day 4 CCAA Golf Nationals Recap

Day four in Windsor started with very heavy rainfall in the morning after a long night of rain but play was started on time at 10 am. However, golf was eventually suspended due to lightning close to the course mid- afternoon. The rain then started to fall very hard again and continued for some time. After the officials and technical committee met after some work was done on the course it was determined the fourth round would be cancelled as there was not enough time to get the course playable and have all competitors finish their rounds before dark as the last group of the day was only on the 7th hole when play was halted.

As per CCAA rules the event would have to be reduced from a 72 hole to 54 hole Championship.

Jayden Dudas of Medicine Hat College and Anne-Sophie Bélanger of Champlain St. Lawrence were named the 2021 CCAA national men and women’s individual champions. Dudas was at 2 under par after three rounds of play. Belanger had a score of 10 over for the three rounds of play.

The women’s silver medal winners were won by Hayley McCallum and Madison Ouellette from Humber College who were both at +11. All three women’s medalists were named as CCAA All Stars.

The men’s silver medal went to Justin Grimard from the Rafales de Terrebonne who was at 1 over par. There was a three way time for the Bronze Medal with Felix Bouchard (Andre-Laurendeau), Mitchel Hampson (Fanshawe) and Matthew Bremer (Humber) at +2. All 5 men were named CCAA All Stars

The Champlain St. Lawrence Lions men’s team won the national championship with a score of +29. The team silver medals went to Andre-Laurendeau while the bronze medals went to Medicine Hat College.

In the women’s conference competition, Team OCAA 1 comprised of Humber’s Hayley McCallum, Humber’s Madison Ouellette and Shannon Coffey of the St. Clair Saints edged out RSEQ 1 buy 6 strokes. OCAA 2 took home the bronze medals.

Noah Leduc of Georgian and Julia Davis won the Exemplary Leadership awards presented by PING.
