Red Wings’ Representative Jos x 10 Crowned EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Champion at Spectacular Event on Broadway in Nashville

A new Champion was crowned today in Nashville, Tenn., during the EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Championship, the National Hockey League announced. Joseph ‘Jos x 10’ Olmstead, who represented his hometown Detroit Red Wings, walked away with his firstNHL23WC title and with it, the $28,000 USD grand prize presented by Carrlyn Bathe, the Championship belt and title of EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Champion. At 19-years old, Jos was the youngest competitor in the finalists’ field and only needed two games in the best-of-three semifinal and final series to dispose of his competitors and cement his status as the top NHL 23 gamer in the World.

Along with his brother, whom he credits for fueling his gaming passion, and friends who joined him in Nashville, Jos x 10 shared the stage with 2023 NHL Draft Top Prospects Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli and Will Smith. The three stopped by the mobile gaming truck to cheer on the competitors, play some CHEL and speak with the broadcast team.

Jos x 10, who secured a top 4 ranking in North America in the past two seasons, advanced to this year’s World Final by placing second at the North American Championship. Aside from his virtual hockey skills, Olmstead has been playing ice hockey since he was three years old and currently is a forward for the 18U AAA Honeybaked Team of the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL).

The reigning European Champion and favorite to repeat as World Champion (who also clinched the inaugural NHL GWC World title in 2018), Erik ‘EKI’ Tammenpää, representing the New York Islanders, finished the day as the runner-up after going undefeated in round-robin play.
