Express Finish Season Strong At Home Against River Lions
The Windsor Express (21-18) hosted the Niagara River Lions (16-23) for an anticipated playoff preview. A strong second quarter from the Express gave them the momentum they needed for a 112-96 victory on Friday night.
The Express had a rough first quarter, and trailed by as much as 16 points. The Express finished the first quarter down 28-18.
Windsor crawled out of their deficit in the second quarter, going on a 15-0 run to take back the lead, 42-37 at the midway point of the quarter. Windsor outscored Niagara 35-16 and went into halftime with a 54-43 lead.
The Express continued their momentum well into the third quarter, increasing their lead by as much as 26, 75-49. The Express went into the final quarter with a 88-70 advantage.
The final quarter of the game saw a bit of a comeback from Niagara, by not allowing Windsor to score until a minute and a half in. Although Niagara outscored Windsor 26-24, Windsor was able to walk away with a 112-96 win.
Maurice Bolden put up 20 points and added 12 rebounds for a double double. Chris Commons also had a double double performance with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Kirk Williams Jr and Shaquille Keith each had 17 points in the win.
Logan Stutz put up a game high 26 points, and added 10 rebounds.
Clinton Springer-Williams had 20 points of his own.
The Windsor Express will travel to London on Saturday night to close the regular season, at Budweiser Gardens for a 7:00pm game start.
The Windsor Express will take on the Niagara River Lions in a best of five series, starting with Game 1 on Monday, May 2nd for a 7:30pm game start.
Game 2 will be on Wednesday, May 4th at The WFCU Centre for a 7:30pm game start.
