Local Businesses Bring Holiday Cheer to SOAR Program
Holiday cheer is on its way to the Sports, Opportunities, Academics, and Recreation (SOAR) after-school program at Windsor Water World courtesy of three local businesses. On Friday, December 17, at 1:00 p.m., Supreme Restoration Services, DS Electric and JR Flooring will make a generous donation of sports equipment to the SOAR program as a Christmas gift to the program participants.
“I cannot thank Brandon Meanney from Supreme Restoration Services enough for his initiative on bringing holiday cheer to our program participants,” said Katie Pavlovski, Supervisor, Community Programming. “This is the third generous donation he has initiated for our SOAR participants and we are so very grateful. Thank you to the rest of the team at Supreme and to DS Electric and JR Flooring for coming together to make this holiday extra special for our kids. On behalf of all the program staff at Windsor Water World, thank you for the continued support and kindness. It really means so much to us and the families of the Glengarry neighbourhood.”
SOAR is a free and inclusive after-school program that offers fun and stimulating activities for everyone to enjoy. In addition to active play, kids have time to socialize with friends and do homework with assistance from the staff. Participants are also taught the importance of healthy eating and are provided with nutritious snacks daily. This program is funded by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries; and the City of Windsor.
Representatives from Supreme Restoration Services, DS Electric and JR Flooring will drop off the sporting goods, including basketballs, soccer balls, skipping ropes and more, to the City of Windsor staff. The drop-off will be held at the Thompson Towers lobby at 495 Glengarry Ave. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) – facemasks, gloves and face shields – will be worn by all staff.
