Knights defeat Windsor Spitfires in London
Brandon Crawley scored the overtime winner as the London Knights rallied to defeat the Windsor Spitfires 3-2 at the Budweiser Gardens in London on Sunday night.
The game was the fourth overtime game in a week who the Spitfires (14-4-3-0) who dropped their third contest during that span.
Julius Nattinen staked Windsor to a 2-0 lead after two periods of play with a pair of goal but the Knights (16-3-2-1) came back in the third period on the strength of markers by Olli Juolevi and Max Jones to send the game into extra time again.
The Spitfires entered the game already without the services of Logan Brown and Graham Knott, both of who were out with injuries and Cristiano DiGiacinto, who was serving the first game of a five-game suspension. The team then lost Jalen Chatfield as the result of a match penalty he received for an apparent head butt on London’s Adrian Carbonara.
Tyler Parsons made 22 saves to pick up the win in goal for the Knights while Michael DiPietro made 24 stops at the other end.
The Windsor Spitfires schedule has them in action on Thursday night on the road in Peterborough for a game against the Petes.
