St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Advance to OCAA Semi Final
The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team got a huge win over the Centennial Colts on Thursday night at the OCAA Championship being hosted by Centennial College in Scarborough.
The Saints took down a stubborn Centennial squad by a score of 3-1 in front of a raucous crowd in their home gym in the Championship Quarter Final match. The Saints took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17. The Colts rebounded to take set three by a score of 26-24. St. Clair narrowly escaped with the win by coming back to take the 4th set 26-24 to put Centennial away. Taylor Fitzgerald (Windsor) led the way offensively with 10 kills, 2 service aces and 9 digs. Setter Kim Quintanilla (Windsor) also had a solid match with 10 service aces, 1 kill and 13 digs. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 3rd in Ontario. Centennial finished in 2nd place in the OCAA East Division with a record of 15-3 and were ranked 6th in Ontario.
With the win the Saints advance to the OCAA Championship semi final on Friday night at 8 pm. St. Clair will be facing the top ranked Humber Hawks who defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers by a score of 3-2 after going down 2 sets to none. Humber went 18-0 in the regular season finishing 1st in the West Division. The Hawks are ranked 1st in Ontario and 3rd in Canada
