Lakeshore Closes Belle River Marina and Beach Due to High Water

Lakeshore has closed the West Beach, Belle River Marina and access road to the marina due to high water. Public Works is erecting barricades to block the entrances.

Recent winds and high water levels on Lake St. Clair is causing water to overtop the breakwalls and eroding areas along the breakwall that is not safe for the public. As a precautionary measure, the Town is blocking entrances to these areas. Work to complete repairs and erosion mitigating measures along the breakwall is scheduled to be done on Monday, April 13.

People are cautioned to avoid the shoreline and areas where flooding is occurring.

Lakeshore further requests people who do not live in Lighthouse Cove or on the following streets: Lakeshore Park, Valentino Drive and Ross Beach to avoid these areas with surface water covering sections of these roads. Driving through areas of water covered sections of roads can exacerbate flood water conditions for area residents.

The Town thanks everyone for respecting these barricades and avoid these areas.

Sandbags are available free to residents on waterfront property. Residents can request up to 100 sandbags per property by calling 519-728-2488 between 8 am to noon throughout the weekend. Staff will review the request and deliver the sandbags the next day or as soon as possible.
