Lancers fall to Charleston Southern in NCAA/OUA Tip-Off Classic
The Lancer men’s basketball team opened up the 2016-17 pre-season with an 89-81 loss to the NCAA’s Charleston Southern Buccaneers in the twelfth annual NCAA/OUA Tip-off Classic Sunday at the St. Denis Centre.
Isiah Osborne had a tremendous game for the Blue & Gold finishing with a game high 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Mike Rocca finished the game with the match’s only double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds.
For the visiting Bucs, Christian Keeling led the way with 24 points, 5 rebounds, while Javis Howard had 19 points, and a team high 7 rebounds.
The Lancers struggled to find their grove in the first half, shooting only 23.1% from the field compared to Charleston’s 55.9%, and were trailing 48-30 at the break.
In the second, Windsor came roaring back with some impressive plays, including a third quarter dunk through traffic by Osborne. Shooting 50% in the final twenty minutes, the Lancers brought the game within seven midway through the fourth but were unable to capitalize on some key shots to take the lead.
Windsor will now host Drury University on August 13th at 4:00pm, and on August 17th at 7:30pm at the St. Denis Centre.
