LaSalle to Open Boat Ramp for 2020 Season
In response to the Province of Ontario’s announcement to begin to reopen some businesses and amenities, as of Saturday, May 16, the LaSalle Boat Ramp, located on Front Road at Laurier Drive, will be open to launch boats. The boat ramp is free to use and will not be attended by a staff member. Use of the boat ramp and the parking lot is at your own risk. The washrooms at the LaSalle Boat Ramp remain closed until further notice. Residents should bring hand sanitizer with them to clean their hands often.
LaSalle, as well as areas in Essex County and Windsor, continue to be under a Flood Watch as issued by the Essex Region Conservation Authority. Front Road, and the streets west of Front Road, may experience overland flooding during rainfall events and/or in cases of high winds, wind speed and wind direction. In some cases, it is likely that the LaSalle Boat Ramp and parking lot will experience flooding. Please note that the boat ramp may be closed on short notice should flooding occur.
COVID-19 precautions and emergency orders remain in place. Guidelines provided by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit and Province of Ontario advise that there not be any groups of more than 5 people congregating, to practice physical distancing (remaining two metres or six feet apart from others) at all times while loading/unloading boats, and while on the waterways. It is also important to wash your hands frequently and to use hand sanitizer if washing your hands is not an option.
In response to the Government of Ontario’s emergency order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, LaSalle parks, sports fields and pavilions remain closed. This includes playground equipment, the skateboard park, pickleball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts and fishing at any park. Green spaces in parks, trails, and conservation areas that aren’t otherwise closed remain open for walk-through access. Green spaces in parks and the LaSalle Recreational Trails are open at this time, but please maintain the safe physical distance of at least 2 metres apart from others and wash your hands well when returning home.
