Leamington Flyers Find Homes For Overage Players

By Matt Dumouchelle

As time continues to run out for some player’s junior hockey careers, the Leamington Flyers are proud to have made deals so their seven overagers get a chance to play out their last year.

In separate moves, the Flyers have dealt Hayden Johnston to the Kam River Fighting Walleye of the SIJHL, Josh Maine and Thomas Michaud to the Blind River Beavers of the NOJHL and Dylan Weston to the Lakeshore Canadiens of the PJHL.

Leamington also has deals in place for three American players – Cam Blanton to the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL, Jacob Kalandyk to the Texas Jr Brahamas of the NA3HL and Joey Johnson to the Metro Jets of the USPHL.

“With so much uncertainty in this year, we wanted to make sure these guys had the opportunity to play and be able to continue their development.” Leamington general manager, Justin Solcz states. “All of these players are great men and have been valued members of our organization and we are happy that we were able to find them places to finish their junior careers.”
