Leamington Flyers Collect Hardware At Western Conference Awards

The Leamington Flyers were well represented as the GOJHL announced their Western Conference end of season award winners.

The Flyers coaches were given the Pete’s Sports Award for Coaching Staff of the Year in the Western Conference. In their first year together, head coach Dale Mitchell and assistants Mark Rideout, Kade McKibbin and Matt Anthony helped the club finish first in the conference with 72 points.
The goaltending tandem of Ryan Polidori and Boe Piroski received the Roy Caley Award for Lowest Team Goals Against Average, with a team mark of 2.41 GAA.

And Ryan MacPherson took home two honours, the Southland Insurance Award as the Rookie with the Most Points and the Roy Bruhlman Memorial Award for Western Conference Rookie of the Year.
MacPherson led all rookies in the conference with a team high 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 points.

“With individual success comes team success,” Flyers general manager, Justin Solcz points out. “We are as excited about the team and players growth and development over this past season as we are for the individual and team achievements.” “The dedication our players and coaches have shown this year is second to none and we are grateful to have our players and coaches recognized by the league and their peers,” Solcz adds.

With their victory last night in St. Mary’s, Leamington has moved on to the Western Conference Finals and will face the Chatham Maroons.

Schedules will be released shortly. Tickets for all Finals games played in Leamington will be available online.
