DETROIT LIONS VS DALLAS COWBOYS POST-GAME WRAP

The following are post-game notes from the Detroit Lions’ 42-21 loss against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Monday, December 26, 2016.

FIVE PLAYERS WITH 50+ RECEPTIONS
TE Eric Ebron (53) and WR Marvin Jones (50) have now joined WR Golden Tate (85), WR Anquan Boldin (63) and RB Theo Riddick (53) in reaching 50+ receptions in 2016. The Lions are now the fifth team, and first in franchise history, to feature five different players with at least 50 catches in a season. Other teams to accomplish this were the 1980 Cleveland Browns, 1994 New England Patriots, 2011 New Orleans Saints and 2013 Denver Broncos.

THREE RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS
The Lions rushed for three touchdowns (7 and 5 yards by RB Zach Zenner; 1 yard by QB Matthew Stafford) in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys, marking the first time the team rushed for three touchdowns in a game since October 27, 2013 against the Cowboys at Ford Field.

This was the first time the Lions rushed for three first-half touchdowns since rushing for three at Jacksonville on November 4, 2012.

WR ANQUAN BOLDIN
WR Anquan Boldin caught 5 passes for 33 yards at Dallas and moved past WR Reggie Wayne (1,070) for ninth place on the NFL’s all-time career receptions list. In 14 seasons, Boldin has grabbed 1,072 receptions.

On the season, Boldin now has 63 catches with the Lions in 2016, as he became the sixth player in NFL history to register 60+ receptions in 12 different seasons.

TE ERIC EBRON
At Dallas, TE Eric Ebron set career single-game highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (93). He had previously caught a career high 7 passes twice already this season (at Min 11/6 and at Hou 10/30). He also surpassed his previous single-game best for receiving yards of 92 established at Minnesota (11/6).

With 55 receptions for 650 yards this season, Ebron has set new single-season career highs in both receiving categories. Ebron became the fourth Lions tight end to grab 50+ receptions in a season, joining TE Brandon Pettigrew (71 in 2010, 83 in 2011 and 59 in 2012), TE David Hill (53 in 1978) and TE Jim Gibbons (51 in 1960).
Ebron’s 650 receiving yards are now the fourth-most by a Lions tight end in a single season, and this marks the seventh time a Lions tight end has recorded 600+ receiving yards.

WR GOLDEN TATE
At Dallas, WR Golden Tate caught 6 passes for 58 yards. He now has 1,000 yards in 2016, marking his second-career 1,000-yard season. He has now reached 1,000 yards in two of the past three seasons (1,331 in 2014).

Tate’s 6 receptions now give him 85 catches on the season, as he joins WR Calvin Johnson (4; 2011-13, 2015) and WR Herman Moore (4; 1995-98) as the only receivers in team history to record 80+ receptions in three different seasons. He also became the third player, along with Johnson (2011-13) and Moore (1995-98), to accomplish this in three-straight seasons.
With 85 catches this season, Tate became the first Lions player in team history to catch 80+ passes in each of his first three seasons with the team.

RB ZACH ZENNER
RB Zach Zenner rushed for career-high 67 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns in a game for the first time in his career. Zenner registered touchdown runs of 7 and 5 yards in the first half against Dallas.

P SAM MARTIN
P Sam Martin punted 4 times for 196 yards (49.0 avg) and registered a 47.8 net punting average. It was the sixth time in his career and third time in 2016 that he has punted 4+ times in a game and netted a 47.0+ average.

On the season, Martin has now improved his net punting average to 44.1, which currently ranks as the third-best single-season total in NFL history since net punting became an official statistic in 1976.

WR ANDRE ROBERTS
WR Andre Roberts returned a kickoff against the Cowboys for a season-high 42 yards. The 42-yard return was Roberts’ fourth-longest of his career.
