LIONS VS JAGUARS WEEK 11 RECAP
The following post-game notes from the Detroit Lions’ 26-19 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field on Sunday, November 20, 2016.
With a 26-19 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Head Coach Jim Caldwell earned his 50th career regular season win as an NFL head coach. In six seasons, he has accumulated a record of 50-40 (.556 pct) in 90 games. By defeating the Jaguars, Caldwell’s career record in the regular season moved to 10 wins above the .500 mark.
First 10 Games of Season under Caldwell: The win against Jacksonville improves the Lions record to 6-4 in 2016. Under Caldwell, the Lions have now accumulated 6+ wins in the first 10 games twice in his three seasons as head coach (7-3 in 2014; 6-4 in 2016).
5 OUT OF 6 WINS: The Lions have now won five of their last six games to improve to 6-4. Under Caldwell, this is the second time that the Lions won 5 our 6 games and first since the team went 6-1 over a 7-game stretch in 2014 (Weeks 3-10).
TOUCHDOWNS IN ALL 3 PHASES
The Detroit Lions scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams, including the following: 55-yard punt return TD (WR Andre Roberts), 39-yard interception return TD (S Rafael Bush) and 1-yard rushing TD (TE Eric Ebron). The last time the Lions scored touchdowns in all three phases in a game occurred October 10, 2010 in a 44-6 win against the St. Louis Rams (3 Rec TD, 1 INT TD, 1 KR TD).
WR ANDRE ROBERTS
WR Andre Roberts returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to give the Lions a 6-3 lead. Roberts notched his second punt return touchdown of the season, and he became the fourth player in team history to register two punt return touchdowns in a single season. Roberts’ two punt returns this season are the most since WR Eddie Drummond recorded two in 2005.
He joins Drummond, RB Tom Watkins (2, 1964) and CB Jack Christensen (2, 1952; 4, 1951) as the only players in team history to accomplish this feat.
Additionally, Roberts registered a 44-yard reception against the Jaguars. The catch represents Roberts’ fifth-longest reception of his career and the longest since joining the Lions this season.
Roberts became the only Lions player since the 1970 NFL Merger to register a 40+-yard reception and 50+-yard punt return in the same game. The previous Lions player to accomplish this in the same season was WR Az-Zahir Hakim in 2002
TE ERIC EBRON
TE Eric Ebron caught 3 passes for 70 yards in the Lions’ 26-19 win over Jacksonville. Among his receptions included a career-long 61-yard catch in the fourth quarter. His 61-yarder is the longest by a Lions tight end since TE Marcus Pollard’s 86-yard reception vs. Carolina on October 16, 2005.
Two plays following the 61-yard reception, Ebron scored on a 1-yard rush around the right edge of the Lions offensive line, giving the Lions a 23-19 lead. Ebron became the first Lions tight end to score on a rushing touchdown since TE Rob Rubick rushed for a 1-yard touchdown against Green Bay on January 2, 1983. Coincidently, both rushing touchdowns gave the Lions fourth quarter leads that led Detroit to comeback victories.
QB MATTHEW STAFFORD
Against Jacksonville, QB Matthew Stafford started and played in his 103rd career game and surpassed QB Eric Hipple and QB Greg Landry for the most career games played by a Lions quarterback in team history. Hipple and Landry each played 102 games with the Lions during their respective careers. Stafford holds the franchise record with 103 career starts, and earlier this year (vs. Was 10/23) became the first quarterback in team history to start 100 games
In the 26-19 win over Jacksonville, Stafford completed 24-of-33 passes (72.7 pct) for 278 yards.
Stafford in 8 Seasons: With 24 completions against Jacksonville, Stafford (2,484) surpassed QB Joe Flacco (2,479) and Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino (2,480) for the fourth-most completions by a quarterback in his first eight seasons.
WR GOLDEN TATE
In the 26-19 win against Jacksonville, WR Golden Tate appeared in his 100th career game. In seven seasons, he has accumulated 100 career games and 75 career starts. Tate played 58 games during his first four seasons while with Seattle, and has played in all 42 games since joining the Lions in 2014.
RB THEO RIDDICK
RB Theo Riddick caught 8 passes for 70 yards in the 26-19 victory against Jacksonville. Riddick now has 8+ receptions in five career games, including twice this season (8 at Hou 10/30). His 70 receiving yards mark the fifth time in his career reaching that tally, and second in 2016 (77 at Hou 10/30).
With 8 receptions against the Jaguars, Riddick joined FB James Jones as the only running backs in team history with 120+ receptions over a two-year span. Riddick’s 123 receptions now tie Jones (123 in 1983-84) for the most receptions by a Lions running back over a two-year span.
Riddick has now logged 157 receptions over the past three seasons (since 2014), which rank as the third-highest total in Lions history among running backs over a three-year span. He joined Jones (176 from 1984-86; 168 from 1982-85) as the only running back in team history with 150+ receptions over three seasons.
With 70 receiving yards, Riddick (1,356) reached 1,300+ receiving yards since 2014 and become the fifth Lions running back (sixth time overall) to reach that mark over a three-year span. His 1,356 receiving yards over the past three seasons now rank as the fourth-highest tally by a Lions running back over three seasons.
S RAFAEL BUSH
S Rafael Bush gave the Lions a 16-9 lead at the beginning of the third quarter when he intercepted a Jaguars pass and returned it 39 yards for his first career touchdown. He now has three career interceptions and a single-season career high of two picks in 2016.

Martin’s 61-yard punt in the second quarter against the Jaguars pinned Jacksonville at their own 6-yard line. After a 3-and-Out defensive stop, the Lions scored on a 55-yard punt return touchdown by WR Andre Roberts.
Martin has totaled a net punting average of 45.8 so far in 2016, which ranks as the highest among all punters through 11 weeks of the season since 1992.
