Lions vs. Titans Week 8 Preview
In Week 8, the Detroit Lions (5-1) are set to host the Tennessee Titans (1-5) on October 27, 2024 at Ford Field in Detroit. The Lions are currently the favorites, holding a 11 point spread over the struggling Titans.
The Lions are proving why they are the defending NFC North champions with their sights set on reaching the Super Bowl this season. Quarterback Jared Goff has been playing at an MVP level. He’s been completing 73.6% of his passes for 1,610 yards and 10 touchdowns against four interceptions through 6 games. The Lions’ two-headed rushing attack of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has combined for 846 yards and 281 receiving yards. However, the Lions will be without one of their top receivers, Jameson Williams, who is facing a 2-game suspension for a PED violation.
On the other side, the Titans have had a disappointing start to the season, sitting at 1-5. Quarterback Will Levis has been dealing with a shoulder injury, leading to Mason Rudolph making his first start last week against the Bills. Rudolph completed 25-of-40 passes for 215 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception in the 34-10 loss. The Titans’ offense has struggled mightily, ranking last in the NFL in passing yards per game at just 145.8. Their defense has been the bright spot, allowing a league-low 272.2 total yards per game.
Despite the Titans’ struggles, they have kept most of their losses close, falling to the Bears, Jets and Colts by 7 points or fewer. However, they have been blown out by the Packers and Bills. The Lions, on the other hand, have won their last 3 games by an average of 25.5 points.
Oddsmakers have set the over/under for this game at 45.5 points. Given the Lions’ high-powered offense, IPM is predicting a Week 8 final score of 31-17 in favor of the Lions. The Lions’ depth and talent on both sides of the ball should be too much for the Titans to overcome on the road.
