LIONS HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL…
On what about this team allows for successful finishes late in the game: “I think because it happens on both sides of the ball obviously, defense the last couple weeks, and then offense this week, I think a lot of it has to do with veteran leadership that we have. I think our coaches do a great job just coaching the situational football there at the end. When you have guys that have been around the block like Matthew (Stafford), he has a great sort of settling force when things are a little tight. I think it’s the leadership of the young guys and I think our coaches do a great job.”
On why QB Matthew Stafford has been clutch in late-game situations: “I attribute to the fact number one, he does not back down from tough situations. He relishes in them, he doesn’t get nervous and he’s got a real clear and focused mind during the time when it’s sometimes a little bit of chaos all around you. But he rises to the occasion time and time again. He’s certainly delivered for us.”
