Michigan Welcomes New Head Coach Sherrone Moore

The University of Michigan has ushered in a new era in its football history by appointing Sherrone Moore as the new head coach. He replaces Jim Harbaugh, who has moved to coach the Los Angeles Chargers.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Moore has had an illustrious journey in the world of football. Prior to his stint at Michigan, he coached at Central Michigan and Louisville. However, it was his time at Michigan that truly put him in the spotlight.

Moore joined the Michigan Wolverines’ coaching staff in 2018 as the tight end coach. He was subsequently promoted to the position of offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator. His leadership and strategic acumen played a pivotal role in the offensive line winning the prestigious Joe Moore Award, a testament to their dominance in college football.

Moore’s contract is a five-year deal, which includes a base salary of $500,000 along with $5 million as additional compensation in the first year. The agreement also includes a 2% increment in salary and additional compensation each subsequent year.

Furthermore, Moore is eligible for bonuses up to $3.5 million, including $500,000 for a conference championship win and $1 million for a national championship victory.

Moore’s appointment holds significant historical weight, as he becomes the first Black head coach to hold a permanent position in Michigan’s storied football history. This milestone is a substantial step towards diversity and inclusion in the world of sports.

In a statement, Moore expressed his excitement and vision for the role. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the legacy of Michigan’s championship football and reiterated his commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

As Moore takes the helm, he faces the daunting task of building his staff. While it’s not yet known if Harbaugh will attempt to bring any of the current Michigan assistants with him to the NFL, one thing is certain: Moore’s journey as the head coach of Michigan has just begun, and fans are eager to see where he leads the Wolverines in the coming years.

With Moore’s appointment, the Wolverines’ team enters a new chapter in its history. The hope is that this new leadership will bring a fresh perspective and continue Michigan’s legacy of excellence. The coming seasons will be a testament to Moore’s leadership, strategic acumen, and his ability to inspire his team to new heights.
