NHL MILESTONES & MUSINGS

  • Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr (0-1—1), who extended his point streak to five games (4-2—6), moved within three assists of becoming the sixth player in NHL history to record 1,100 in his career.
  • Sharks forward Patrick Marleau played in his 500th consecutive regular-season game dating to April 9, 2009.
  • Alain Vigneault (NYR) coached his 1,012th career game to move into a tie with Terry Murray for 20th place on the NHL’s all-time games coached list.
  • The Sharks improved to 14-6-2 (30 points) as visitors this season. Their 14 road wins and 30 road points rank second in the NHL, behind the Capitals (16-4-2, 34 points).
  • Ki Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo (27 SV) saw his career-high and franchise-record winning streak end at nine games
  • Kings Goalie Jonathan Quick, who ranks second in the League with 24 wins this season, made 25
  • Red Wings defenseman Alexey Marchenko posted his second career goal (50 GP) and first since Feb. 28, 2015 at NSH saves to extend his personal point streak to eight games (7-0-1, 1.55 GAA, .950 SV%, 1 SO).

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, Detroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek and Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie were named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Jan. 10.
