NHL NEWS NOV 21 – COLUMBUS, CAROLINA WIN FOURTH IN A ROW

Columbus forward Alexander Wennberg scored the game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in the third period to lead the Blue Jackets 3-2 over the Washington Capitals. The Blue Jackets won their fourth straight game, improving to 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Sergei Bobrovsky (19 saves) improved to 7-1-0 in his last nine appearances and 10-4-1 overall (2.19 GAA, .931 SV%, 3 SO).

Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward made 21 saves and Victor Rask (1-0—1) scored the game-winning goal for the second straight game to give Carolina their fourth straight win and fourth consecutive win at home. Carolina went three-for-three on the penalty kill and have now killed off 19 straight penalties to lead the League (91.3%).

Calgary Flames forward Garnet Hathaway (Naples, Fla.) scored his first career goal (18 GP) against the Detroit Red Wings, becoming the sixth Florida-born player to score an NHL goal joining Jakob Chychrun (Boca Raton, Fla.), Dan Hinote (Leesburg, Fla.), Blake Geoffrion(Plantation, Fla.), Jayson Megna (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Shayne Gostisbehere (Pembroke Pines, Fla.). This was Detroit’s fourth consecutive loss.

  • The New York Rangers honored broadcaster Sam Rosen, recognizing his Foster Hewitt Memorial Award, prior to Sunday’s game
