GOLDEN KNIGHTS EXTEND HOME WIN STREAK TO EIGHT GAMES
The Sharks overcame a 4-1 deficit, but Jonathan Marchessault (1-2—3) scored at 1:21 of overtime to power the Golden Knights to their eighth consecutive home win and fourth straight victory overall.
SEGUIN NETS HAT TRICK AFTER STARS RETIRE JERE LEHTINEN’S No. 26
On the night Dallas retired former forward Jere Lehtinen’s No. 26 in a pre-game ceremony at American Airlines Center, Tyler Seguin (3-0—3) netted the eighth hat trick of his NHL career to help the Stars improve to 9-2-0 at home in 2017-18.
Seguin scored career goals No. 199, 200 and 201 to become the first player from the 2010 NHL Draft class to eclipse the 200-goal milestone, 12 more than the next-closest player (Jeff Skinner: 189).
Lehtinen joined Neal Broten (No. 7), Bill Goldsworthy (No. 8), Mike Modano (No. 9) and Bill Masterton(No. 19) as the only players in franchise history to have their number retired. Lehtinen, who spent his entire NHL career with the Stars, collected 243-271—514 in 875 career games and was part of the team that won the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in 1999.
MARLEAU, THORNTON CLIMB ALL-TIME LISTS
Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau scored his 102nd career game-winning goal to pass Jarome Iginla for sole possession of seventh on the NHL’s all-time list.
Sharks forward Joe Thornton collected two assists to leapfrog Joe Sakic for sole possession of 12th on the NHL’s all-time list.
