Alex Ovechkin (1-1—2), Nicklas Backstrom (1-3—4) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (0-2—2) each hit the 10-point mark on Friday to help the Capitals hand the Devils their first loss of the season and improve to 3-1-1.
The Capitals became the 10th team in NHL history to have three or more players each record at least 10 points through the first five games of a season (Ovechkin: 9-1—10, Backstrom: 2-8—10 and Kuznetsov: 0-10—10) and first since the Sharks in 2012-13 (Patrick Marleau: 9-4—13, Joe Thornton: 3-10—13 and Joe Pavelski: 2-8—10).
ANDERSON CLIMBS ALL-TIME SHUTOUTS LIST BY U.S.-BORN GOALTENDERS
Craig Anderson turned aside all 25 shots he faced to backstop the Senators to a 6-0 victory.
