WHEELER, JETS SET FRANCHISE RECORDS IN WIN OVER PENGUINS
Jets captain Blake Wheeler (3-1—4) scored three times in a span of 4:20 as Winnipeg erupted for five goals in the first period – including three in a span of 34 seconds – en route to a home-ice win against the Penguins.

The Jets became the second team in the past 24 years to score three goals in a span of 34 seconds or less – the Blackhawks also did so on March 19, 2017 vs. COL (0:34).

Wheeler also set a new club record for fastest three goals by one player, shattering the previous mark set by Ilya Kovalchuk on Feb. 15, 2009 at ANA (6:51).

There have been 14 hat tricks so far in 2017-18, marking the most hat tricks through 169 games of a season since 1994-95 (15 through 169 GP).

MILLER EARNS SHOOTOUT WIN IN DUCKS DEBUT, EXTENDS NHL RECORD
In his Ducks debut, Ryan Miller made 34 saves – including nine stops in overtime – and denied all three attempts in the shootout to backstop Anaheim to a 4-1-0 record in its past five games.

TOP CLUBS TAKE ICE ON EIGHT-GAME MONDAY
Four of the top five teams in the NHL – the Kings (9-1-1, 19 points), Lightning (9-2-1, 19 points), Blues (9-2-1, 19 points) and Golden Knights (8-1-0, 16 points) – aim to build on their successful starts when they take the ice on Monday.

The Kings and Blues – who are part of a three-way tie for the most points in the NHL (w/ TBL) – square off at Scottrade Center for the first of three meetings this season. The Kings aim to earn 10 wins through their first 12 games of a season for the second time in franchise history (10-1-1 in 1980-81), while the Blues look to hit the mark in their first 13 contests for the first time since 2002-03 (10-2-1).

The Lightning visit the Panthers for the third of four meetings against their intrastate rivals. Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy owns a personal eight-game win streak, which is tied for the longest such run by a goaltender in franchise history (Nikolai Khabibulin: 8-0-0 from Feb. 23 – March 6, 2004).

The Golden Knights, who have won each of their past five outings, begin a six-game road trip with a visit to Barclays Center to face the Islanders. Elias notes that the Golden Knights can establish an NHL record for the longest win streak by a team at any point in its inaugural season. In addition, Vegas can become the first team in the 100-year history of the NHL to win nine of its first 10 games in its inaugural season. The fewest games required by a team to reach nine wins in its inaugural season is 13, a mark set by the Canadiens in 1917-18; the Kings and Flyers share the benchmark of 18 games in the expansion era (since 1967-68).

MARLEAU SET FOR RETURN TO SAN JOSE
Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau makes his return to San Jose for the first time since being acquired by Toronto in the offseason. Marleau, who played his first 19 seasons with the Sharks after being selected second overall in the 1997 NHL Draft, is the franchise leader in games played (1,493), goals (508) and points (1,082). He sits one game-winning goal shy of becoming the eighth player in NHL history to record 100 such goals in his career.
