OFFICIAL DETROIT LIONS BLOCK PARTY IN DOWNTOWN WINDSOR
Detroit Lions fans are set to roar once again in the streets of Downtown Windsor as the city hosts an official Detroit Lions–sanctioned Block Party on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, celebrating the Lions’ annual Thanksgiving Day Classic against the Green Bay Packers.
This free, family-friendly event kicks off at 10 a.m. on the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue, transforming the downtown core into a sea of Honolulu blue and silver. Fans can enjoy a massive live viewing screen, NFL-themed activations, outdoor bars, local food vendors, and plenty of Lions pride in the heart of downtown Windsor.
At 1:05 p.m., the Lions–Packers game will be broadcast live from Ford Field just across the border, creating the ultimate open-air viewing experience for fans who can’t make it across to the game in person. By hosting this event, Windsorites will be able to take part in one of Canada’s largest celebrations of NFL football.
“The City of Windsor is excited and proud to once again partner with the Detroit Lions, Tourism Windsor Essex, and the Downtown Windsor BIA to bring this unique cross-border event to life. Our community is home to a passionate and loyal Detroit Lions fanbase, and this Block Party is a fantastic way to celebrate that pride. It’s a true reflection of our shared spirit, cross-border unity, and the energy that makes Windsor-Detroit one of North America’s great sports regions. Events like this support our Strengthen the Core downtown revitalization plan by bringing Windsorites together, driving tourism and economic activity, and creating another exciting experience in the heart of our city.” – Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens
“I love it! One Pride – the Detroit Lions are our team, and this event will bring Lions fans together in the heart of our city,” said Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino.
Football enthusiasts can enjoy the festivities free of charge by pre-registering online starting today at windsor-block-party.eventbrite.com.
“We’re thrilled to bring the excitement of the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day Classic across the border with an official Lions Block Party in downtown Windsor. It’s a unique opportunity for fans who can’t make it to Ford Field to still feel part of the game-day energy — right here in the downtown core,” said Gordon Orr, CEO, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island and Invest WindsorEssex. “Building on our partnership with the Lions through events like the spectacular drone show earlier this year, we’re continuing to create unforgettable Two Nation Destination moments that drive people downtown and showcase Windsor as an exciting and entertaining destination.”
“We could not be more excited to host another Lions Watch Party in Windsor,” said Detroit Lions Senior Vice President, Marketing & Brand Emily Griffin. “We’re excited to extend the Ford Field gameday experience to our Canadian fans, right in their hometown of Windsor. It’s particularly special to do so in celebration of our Thanksgiving Day Classic, which is our most iconic tradition.”
In addition to watching the game, fans can enjoy food and beverages from Downtown Windsor restaurants and local vendors. This year also marks Downtown Windsor’s first-ever open carry event for all beverages, allowing attendees to walk freely between bars and patios with a drink in hand — a first-of-its-kind celebration for the city.
To cap off the day, fans are invited to stick around for a post-game concert on the main stage on Ouellette Avenue, hosted by the Detroit Lions, DWBIA, and Tourism Windsor Essex, featuring The Jody Raffoul Band performing live after the game.
