Perry Wilson Named New Goalie Coach of the Windsor Spitfires

General Manager Warren Rychel has announced the hiring of Perry Wilson as the club’s new full-time goalie coach.

Wilson worked with the LaSalle Vipers – our Junior B affiliate – from 2008 to 2015, and was a member of the 2010 Sutherland Cup championship team. In addition, he worked six events beginning in 2010 with Hockey Canada, and was part of both the Senior Women’s and Women’s Under-18 gold medal winning teams in 2012.

“I’m honoured to be part of this organization,” Wilson said. “It’s the place to be.” Wilson has worked extensively in the past with Michael DiPietro. “Mikey started with my group when he was just a kid,” Wilson added. “We have a great relationship. He’s a character kid.”

Wilson says it’s with goalies coming up in the system, like Brock Baier and Lucas Patton, where he thinks he can make the greatest impact.

“I hope to bring experience working at a high level with those young guys and help boost their games.”

Rychel says commitment to the game makes Wilson a perfect fit.

“There were a lot of very good applicants for this job,” Rychel noted. “Perry is exactly what we need right now to replace (former goalie coach) Jimmy (Bedard).”

Bedard was hired by the Dallas Stars following last season’s Memorial Cup run.
