St. Clair Saints Soccer Earns OCAA Awards

For the women, goalkeeper Athena DiMario Done (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) was named a West Division All-Star. DiMario Done started all 6 regular season games for the Saints allowing only 7 goals and earning one clean sheet. The fourth year transfer was in her first season with St. Clair after spending three previous years at the University of Minnesota Crookston.

Head Coach Kris Geier was named the West Division Coach of the Year. Geier helped lead the Saints to a second place finish in the West Division with a record of 4 wins, 1 loss and a tie. St. Clair won its playoff cross-over game over Mohawk by a score of 2-1 but lost 1-0 in overtime to St. Lawrence in the OCAA quarterfinal.

On the men’s side midfielder Evan Mendonca (Wallacetown; West Elgin) and goalkeeper Jonathan Rondinelli (Windsor; Riverside) were recognized as West Division All-Stars. Mendonca scored 2 goals including 1 game winner starting all six regular season games while providing great leadership for the Saints on and off the field. Rondinelli started in 4 games for the Saints winning 3 of those matches. He faced 20 shots turning aside 16 of them.

Rookie Patrick Maheux (Amherstburg; Villanova) was named the West Division Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Bradley Heath from Fanshawe. Maheux started all six regular season games for the Saints and was a key defender for the team that only allowed 8 goals along with helping St. Clair defeat Niagara 1-0 and Durham 2-1 in post season play.
