St. Clair Women’s Soccer Take Down Fanshawe
The St. Clair College women’s soccer team travelled up the 401 to London on Saturday to take on their rival Fanshawe College.
In a well played match the Saints came away with a solid 3-0 win over the Falcons.
Victoria Walsh (Georgetown; Christ the King) opened the scoring in the 13th minute assisted by Alexa Mognon (LaSalle; Assumption) . Alexis Costantin (Windsor; Brennan) put the Saints up 2-0 in the 32nd minute on a pass from Talia Liburdi (Tecumseh; St. Anne’s). Abby Redmond (Tecumseh; L’Essor) rounded out the scoring from Leah Burrell (Windsor; Brennan) for St. Clair late in the first half in the 44th minute
The Saints had 24 shot attempts in the game while the Falcons had 7. The Saints had the edge in corner kicks 13-1. Lilly Estephan (Windsor; Brennan) turned aside on 6 shots she faced to earn the clean sheet.
St. Clair now has 2 wins on the season while Fanshawe dropped to 0-3.
St. Clair is next in action when they travel to Redeemer University (Ancaster) on Friday and Mohawk College (Hamilton) on Saturday for a doubleheader on the road.
St. Clair Men’s Soccer Tie Fanshawe
The St. Clair College men’s soccer team travelled up the 401 to London on Saturday to take on their rival Fanshawe College.
In an evenly matched game the Saints came away with a 1-1 draw against the Falcons.
Fanshawe opened the scoring in the 16th minute. St. Clair tied the match up in the 50th minute on a goal by Tanner Page (Bothwell; West Elgin) assisted by Michael Zivcic (Windsor, St. Joe’s).
The Saints had 12 shot attempts while the Falcons had 14. The Saints had the edge in corner kicks 7-2.
Heading into the match Fanshawe was ranked 4th in the OCAA while the Saints were ranked 8th. St. Clair now has a win and a draw on the season while Fanshawe has a win and 2 ties.
St. Clair is next in action when they travel to Redeemer University on Friday and Mohawk College on Saturday for a doubleheader on the road.
