St. Clair Women’s Soccer Take Down Humber

The St. Clair College women’s soccer team continued their strong play with a hard fought 2-1 win over the Humber Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Acumen Stadium.

The Saints got off to a great start when Brianna Kinsley-Clough (Georgetown; Christ the King) put one in the back off the net assisted by Sierra Lapos (Tilbury; Ursuline College) in the 15th minute. St. Clair has a couple of great chances in the remainder of the first half but could not capitalize to increase their lead. Humber came out on fire in the second half putting the pressure on the Saints and finally got the equalizer in the 70th minute. After a couple more chances by Humber St. Clair put some pressure on late and got the winning goal on a nice strike by Lapos on the 86th minute assisted by Layla Hutson (Windsor; Holy Names).

It was a tale of two halves in the match as the Saints has 14 shot attempts in the first half while Humber had 15 in the second half. Lily Estephan (Windsor; Brennan) was solid in goal earning the win in goal making 7 saves while the Humber keeper was forced to make 4 saves.

Humber’s record dropped to 0-4 on the season with the loss.

The St. Clair women are currently ranked 4th in the OCAA with a record of 4-1 and winning 4 straight matches.

The Saints are next in action on the road on Saturday, September 28th at Sheridan and Sunday, September 29 at Humber.

St. Clair Men’s Soccer Fall to Humber

The St. Clair College men’s soccer team took on the Humber Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Acumen Stadium and suffered a hard fought 2-0 loss.

The Saints had a solid first half with neither team finding the back of the net. Shot attempts were 7 to 5 for Humber. The second half went Humber’s way with the Hawks finally get on the scoreboard in the 64th minute on a header from a corner kick. The Saints had a couple good chances after that but Humber put the game away in the 80th minute going up 2-0.

Humber’s record improved to 3 wins and a draw on the season with the win. The Hawks are ranked 4th in Ontario and 7th in Canada.

The Saints record fell to 1 win, 3 losses and a tie with the loss.

The Saints are next in action on the road on Saturday, September 28th at Sheridan and Sunday, September 29 at Humber.
