Saints Volleyball Off to Quarterfinals
St. Clair Women’s Volleyball to Host OCAA Quarterfinal
The St. Clair Women’s volleyball team has qualified for the OCAA Quarterfinals. The Saints defeated the College La Cite Coyotes 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex in playoff action to earn their way to the Final 8.
Set scores for the Saints were 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18.
St. Clair was led offensively by third year outside hitter Kiana Huggins (London; Saunders) with 12 kills with a .522 kill percentage, 2 service aces and 6 digs. Second year middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg: Marantha) had a big match as well with 7 kills and 5 stuff blocks.
With the win the Saints will now host the Durham Lords on Saturday, February 17th at 1 pm at the Sportsplex. The winner will advance to the OCAA Final Four.
The Lords finished 3rd in the East Division with a record of 14-4 and are ranked 5th in Ontario. The Saints were second in the West Division with a record of 16-2 and are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 8th in Canada.
St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Off to Quarterfinals
The St. Clair men’s volleyball team has qualified for the OCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2014-15. The Saints cruised to victory over the Durham Lords 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex in playoff action to earn their way to the Final 8.
Set scores for the Saints were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14.
St. Clair was led offensively by second year outside hitter Eric Glos (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) with 14 kills with a .650 kill percentage, 3 service aces and 3 digs. Second year outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) had a big match as well with 13 kills and 4 service aces.
With the win the Saints will now travel to Centennial College in Scarborough on Sunday, February 18th at 12 noon to take on the Colts. The winner will advance to the OCAA Final Four.
The Colts finished 2nd in the East Division with a record of 14-4 and are ranked 7th in Ontario. The Saints were tied for second in the West Division with a record of 13-5 and are ranked 4th in the OCAA.
