Saints Volleyball Review Nov 4 2017

Women’s Volleyball

The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team earned their first loss of the season on Saturday night at the Sportsplex in their OCAA home opener against the top ranked Humber Hawks.

The Saints lost the match by a score of 3-0.  Game scores for Humber were 25-22, 25-16, and 25-22. Middle Jessica Masse had a solid game for St. Clair with 5 kills, 3 stuff blocks and 1 dig.  Libero Julie Ann had a great defensive game with 17 digs.  With the loss the Saints are now 2-1 on the season. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 5th in Ontario. The win improved Humber’s record to 3-0. The Hawks were ranked 1st in Ontario and 5th in Canada heading into the match.

The women are next in action on Friday, November 10 when the host the Sheridan Bruins at the Sportsplex at 6 pm. Sheridan is 2-0 on the season and are ranked 7th in Ontario.

Men’s Volleyball

The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team remained unbeaten after they defeated the Humber Hawks on Saturday night at the Sportsplex in their OCAA home opener.

The Saints won the match by a score of 3-1.  Game scores for St. Clair were 25-13, 25-10, 19-25 and 25-19. It was a solid all around team effort by St. Clair. Jared Niziolek (Windsor) led the way offensively with 16 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block and 4 digs. Rrezart Sadiku (Toronto) had a great match as well with 9 kills on 14 attacks along with 2 service aces and 5 digs.  With the win the Saints are now 3-0 on the season. The St. Clair men are currently ranked 3rd in Ontario and 12th in Canada. The loss dropped Humber’s record to 1-1. The Hawks were ranked 4th in the OCAA heading into the match.

The men are next in action on Friday, November 10 when the host the Sheridan Bruins at the Sportsplex at 8 pm. Sheridan is 1-1 on the season and are ranked 8th in Ontario.
