Saints Volleyball Weekend Recap January 27 2024
St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Lock Up Second Place
The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team wrapped up their second semester OCAA home schedule on Saturday afternoon taking down the Conestoga Condors 3-0. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-23, 25-19, and 25-11.
Middle hitter Krista Nichol (Hamilton; Westmount Secondary) had a big game for the Saints with 3 kills, 3 service aces, 3 stuff blocks and 3 digs. Setter Emma Clements (Windsor; Holy Names) had a great game with 3 service aces, 24 assists and 9 digs.
The Saints are now 14-2 on the season and are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 8th in Canada. The Condors record fell to 9-7 with the loss and are ranked 8th in the OCAA. With the win the Saints are now locked into second place in the OCAA West with 2 road games remaining next weekend in Sudbury.
St. Clair will host a cross over playoff game on Saturday, February 10 with the time and opponent to be announced at a later date.
St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Lose Battle for First
The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team wrapped up their OCAA home schedule on Saturday afternoon falling to the Conestoga Condors 3-2 in a tight exciting match in front of a packed house at the Sportsplex. Set scores for Conestoga were 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-11.
Second year outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) led the way for the Saints with 17 kills, 2 service aces, 3 stuff blocks and 5 digs. Eric Glos (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) had a great game with 16 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff block and 5 digs.
The Saints are now 12-4 on the season and are currently ranked 1st in Ontario and 5th in Canada. The Condors improved to 12-3 with the win and are ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 7th in the CCAA.
St. Clair will wrap up their regular season schedule on the road in Sudbury with 2 big matches to determine their final place in the OCAA West Standings heading into the playoffs.
