The St. Clair College women’s Saints volleyball team wrapped up their first semester schedule this past weekend with two matches on the road in the Toronto area.

On Saturday, the Saints took on the Sheridan Bruins in Oakville. St. Clair had a strong match defeating the Bruins 3-0. Set scores for the Saints were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-19. Sheridan is currently ranked 5th in the OCAA. Kaila Crough led the way for the Saints offensively with 11 kills, 2 service aces, 2 stuff blocks and 5 digs.

On Sunday, St. Clair was in Etobicoke to take on the top ranked and undefeated Humber Hawks. The Saints struggled against a strong Humber squad losing 3-0. Game scores for Humber were 25-14, 25-17, and 25-17. Humber is ranked 1st in Ontario and 2nd in Canada.

With the weekend split, the Saints end their first half with an impressive record of 7-2 and in third place in the OCAA West Division. St. Clair has been led offensively this season by 3rd year outside hitter Kaila Crough. Crough currently sits 3rd in the OCAA with 4.2 points/set. The women are currently ranked 4th in the OCAA. The Saints are hosting the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Sportsplex from February 24-26.

St. Clair is next in action on January 2nd at the Sportsplex when they host a small mid-season exhibition tournament. The Saints will be taking on Niagara College at 4 pm and the University of Windsor at 8 pm.

Sheridan is currently ranked 8th in the OCAA. With the win Sheridan improved to 4-4 on the season. Justin Fisher led the way for the Saints offensively with 10 kills, 1 stuff block and 4 digs.

On Sunday, St. Clair was in Etobicoke to take on the Humber Hawks. The Saints played well against a strong Humber team and came away with a tough 3-0 match win. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-22, 25-22, and 25-22. Humber is ranked 6th in the OCAA but fell to 5-3 on the year with the loss. The Saints were led offensively by rookie outside hitter Robert Carter who had 8 kills, 3 service aces, 2 stuff blocks and 3 digs.

With the weekend split, the Saints end their first half with a record 4-5 and tied for 6th place in a very tight OCAA West Division. However, the Saints are only 1 win out of third place. The men are currently ranked 10th in the OCAA.

St. Clair is next in action on January 2nd and 3rd  at the Sportsplex when they host a small mid-season exhibition tournament. The Saints will be taking on the University of Windsor on Jan 2nd at  2 pm and the University of Toronto on Jan 3rd at 2 pm.
