St. Clair Saints vs Humber Volleyball Recap

The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team hosted the top ranked Humber Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex.

The Saints played a solid match but suffered a tough 3-1 loss. St. Clair got off to a great starting taking the first set 25-17 over the Hawks. However, Humber bounced back in to win the 2nd set  25-18 and the 3rd set 25-17. The Hawks put the game away in the 4th set winning 25-17. Humber now has a season record of 14-0 and has a 123 game winning streak in the OCAA as well. Humber has only lost 3 sets all season including the first set loss to the Saints. Humber is ranked 1st in Ontario and 2nd in Canada. Angela Evans (Panama) had a great match for St. Clair with 10 kills, 2 stuff block, 2 service aces and 3 digs.

With the loss St. Clair fell to 9-4 on the season and are in 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. The Saints are ranked 4th in the OCAA.

The Saints are next in action at the Sportsplex on Sunday, January 29  at 1 pm when they host the Sheridan Bruins.

The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team hosted the Humber Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex.

In an intense back and forth match the Saints came away with a hard fought 3-2 win. St. Clair got off to a great starting taking the first set 25-22  and the second set 25-19 over the Hawks. However, Humber bounced back winning an amazing third set 32-30.  Humber kept the momentum going by taking the 4th set 25-16.  St. Clair got off to a great start in the 5th and deciding match and finished Humber off 15-12.  The strength of the Saints in this match was their ability to spread their offense around. St. Clair had 4 players with double digit points. Rookie Robert Carter led the way with 14 kills, 2 stuff blocks and 6 digs.

With the win St. Clair improved to 7-6 on the season and are tied for 5th place in the OCAA West Division with Sheridan and Niagara. The Saints are ranked 8th in the OCAA. With the loss Humber dropped to 9-5 on the year and are ranked 6th in Ontario.

The Saints are next in action at the Sportsplex on Sunday, January 29  at 3 pm when they host the Sheridan Bruins. Sheridan is currently 7-7 on the season and are ranked 7th in the OCAA.
