Saints Weekend Soccer Update October 7 2024
St. Clair Women’s Soccer Improve to 6-2
The St. Clair College women’s soccer team continued their OCAA regular season on Saturday afternoon in London against the Fanshawe Falcons and came hold with a solid 1-0 win.
The Saints dominated time of possession and scoring chances throughout the match but could only find the back of the net once. Katlyn Peck (Oxford, MI) scored in the 16th minute unassisted. St. Clair had 29 shot attempts compared to 3 for the Falcons. The Fanshawe keeper was busy making 13 saves.
Keeper Lily Estephan (Windsor; FJ Brennan) had a good match earning the win and clean sheet.
With the win the Saints record improved to 6 wins and 2 losses on the season. St. Clair is currently ranked 5th in Ontario.
St. Clair is next in action on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the Lambton Lions at 5 pm at Acumen Stadium.
St. Clair Men’s Soccer Suffer Tough Loss
The St. Clair College men’s soccer team continued their OCAA regular season on Saturday afternoon in London against the Fanshawe Falcons and suffered a hard fought 2-1 loss.
The Saints got off to a good start on a goal by Nico Gualtieri (Kingsville; Cardinal Carter) in the 8th minute assisted by Nick Rahie (Leamington; Cardinal Carter). Fanshawe tied the match in the 24th minute and then took the lead in the 45th minute. St. Clair had a couple of chances in the 2nd half to tie the match but could not find the goal.
Keeper Brendon Gaudreau (Windsor; St. Joe’s) had a solid game turning aside 7 of 9 shots on goal.
The win improved the Falcons record to 7-1 who are ranked in 2nd in Ontario and 4th in Canada.
With the loss the Saints record dropped to 1 win, 6 losses and a tie on the season. St. Clair has struggled to find the back of the net all season with 5 of their 6 losses coming by 2 goals or less and only scoring 6 goals in 8 matches.
St. Clair is next in action on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the Lambton Lions at 7 pm at Acumen Stadium.
