St. Clair Women’s Golf Team Win’s Niagara Invitational

The St. Clair College men’s and women’s varsity golf teams took part in their third event of the season on Monday at the Niagara College Invitational at Legends on the Niagara Golf Club. It was a very tough day for golf with cold, wet and windy conditions.

The women’s team had a great day finishing in first place with a team score of 153. For the women, three golfers can play with the best two scores counting. Sophia Fallea (LaSalle; Villanova) led the way for St. Clair shooting a 76 which was good enough for first place in the individual competition. Shannon Coffey (Windsor; FJ Brennan) also had a great day shooting a 77 which earned her 2nd place.

The men’s team was the 5th place OCAA team with a score of 329. For the men, five golfers play with the best four scores counting.  John Van Bilsen (Glencoe; Glencoe District) and Liam Lavin (Windsor; Sandwich Secondary) led the way for the Saints both shooting 77 which tied them for 9th place.

The Saints are next in action at the OCAA Championship being hosted by Niagara College in Niagara Falls at Legends Golf Club from October 3-5.
