St. Clair College Women’s Soccer Ranked 15 in Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) National standings this week for the first time
The Saints currently have 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss on the season and sit in 2nd place in the OCAA West Division. St. Clair has scored 24 goals and allowed 10 against. St. Clair’s only loss came to the top ranked Fanshawe Falcons on Tuesday by a score of 5-4 losing on a penalty kick in extra time.
Prior to that match Fanshawe had only allowed 1 goal all season. Up next, the Saints are on the road in Sarnia on Tuesday, October 11 at 5pm to face the Lambton Lions (0-6-1). St. Clair has been led offensively by Kaitlyn Austin (Parkhill) who has scored 8 goals in 6 matches. Other Women’s Soccer teams in the OCAA that are ranked include Algonquin (2), Fanshawe (5), and Humber (10).
The St. Clair Men’s Soccer team (5-1-1) moved up one spot to #10 this week. St. Clair has scored 19 goals and allowed 6 against so far on the season. The Saints tied Fanshawe on Wednesday night 3-3 despite playing most of the 2nd half down a man. St. Clair has been led offensively by Stefan Milidrag (Windsor) with 6 goals in 7 games and Leighton Speechley-Price (England) with 5 goals in 7 games. The two teams are tied for first place in the OCAA West Division. The men are next in action on Wednesday, October 12 when they travel to Sarnia to take on the Lambton Lions (2-4). Other Men’s Soccer teams in the OCAA that are ranked include Humber (1), Algonquin (3) and Fanshawe (13).
In the first edition of the CCAA National Rankings for Cross Country this year, the St. Clair Women’s Cross Country team made the list.
The Women’s team came in at #13. In St. Clair’s first two OCAA races, the Saints finished in 3rd place out of 10 schools at the Sault College meet and in 4th place out of 14 schools at the Fanshawe College meet. The women have been led by Meghan Howell (Harrow) who finished 5th out of 92 runners in London and 6th out of 51 runners in Sault Ste. Marie. Other Women’s Cross Country teams in the OCAA that are ranked include Humber (4), Conestoga (7), Fanshawe (8), and Georgian (15).
