St. Clair Women’s Softball Strengthen Outfield with Baltzer Signing

The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team added another piece to their 2022 lineup with the signing of Sierra Baltzer (LaSalle, ON).

Baltzer is a 5’3” outfielder local product out of Sandwich Secondary School where she was an Honour Roll student and competed in Track and Field as a hurdler winning a pair of OFSAA medals.  Her speed on the track earned her a scholarship to Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) where she participated in the 2021-22 indoor season.  On the softball diamond she played locally for the Windsor Wildcats in addition to travelling up the road to moonlight with Mississauga North.  Most recently Baltzer was selected to represent the U19 Team Ontario squad which won a Bronze Medal at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.

Saints Head Coach Doug Wiseman was excited to add Baltzer saying, “Sierra is a talented softball player with tremendous speed and power.  At the plate she hits with power to go along with a high batting average.  Sierra can change the game both offensively and defensively as she has outstanding skill in the outfield.”

Wiseman continued, “Sierra is a great fit for our system as she plays the game aggressively while under control.  She is a gem of a person and plays the game the right way.  I could not be happier with her signing.”

Baltzer will be enrolled academically in St. Clair’s Pre-Health Science program this fall and is hoping to work towards a nursing degree in future years.
