Spitfires Double Up 67s
Mario Culina made 27 saves as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Ottawa 67s 4-2 at TD Place in Ottawa Friday night. Culina was also picked by the Windsor Spitfires as the “Spitfire In Play!” for tonight’s game.
Connor Corcoran and Cole Carter paced the Spitfires (16-4-3-0) offensively with a goal and an assist each while Graham Knott and Logan Stanley had the other goals. Mikhail Sergachev chipped in with a pair of assists.
Defenceman Jalen Chatfield returned to the Windsor lineup but the team was still without the services of both forwards Logan Brown (injury) and Cristiano DiGiacinto, who was serving the third game of a five-game suspension. Forward Jeremiah Addison, acquired from the 67s during the off-season, missed the contest after being shaken up in Thursday’s game in Peterborough against the Petes.
Ryan Orban and Sasha Chmelevski scored for the 67s (11-12-2-0) while Leo Lazarev made 20 saves in a losing effort.
The Spitfires remain on the road and return to action Sunday afternoon for a game in Kingston against the Frontenacs at the Rogers K-Rock Centre.
