Spitfires lose to Attack

Petrus Palmu scored the overtime winner on a powerplay and Michael McNiven made 21 saves as the Owen Sound Attack defeated the Windsor Spitfires 3-2 at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.

Palmu’s 15th goal of the season came with 31 seconds left in a four minute high-ticking penalty incurred by the Spitfires’ Jeremiah Addison late in the third period.

Matt Schmaltz and Zachary Roberts had the other goals for the Attack (11-10-1-0) while Mike Baird and Aaron Luchuk replied for the Spitfires (13-4-2-0)

The Spitfires could not sustain much offensive pressure all game long and were missing forwards Logan Brown and Graham Knott who were out with undisclosed injuries and were listed as day-to-day by the team.

DiPietro was stellar in making 31 saves but his performance could not save the Spitfires from dropping their second game at home this season.

Windsor returns to action  for a rare Friday night home game against the Sarnia Sting.
