The 12th Annual WESPY (Windsor Essex County Sports Persons of the Year) Awards were held last night at the Caboto Club in Windsor
The 12th Annual WESPY Awards annually to the top athletes in the area in several categories and St. Clair College had several athletes and coaches nominated in many categories but ended up coming away with 3 winners.
Stefan Milidrag (Windsor/Riverside) was named the Male Soccer Player of the Year. Stefan was also named a CCAA All Canadian this past season. Milidrag is in his third season on the team studying Biomedical Engineering Technology . This past season he scored 9 goals in 10 matches. In his 3 years he has scored 17 goals in 27 matches.
Shannon Kennedy (Windsor/St. Josephs) won the Female Basketball Player of the Year. Kennedy, in her 4th season, averaged 18.5 points per game this past season to go with 8.4 rebounds per game for the All-time leading scorer in St. Clair’s history. She was also named an OCAA West Region 1st Team All-Star.
Alexa Georgiou (Windsor/Assumption) earned the Female Softball Player of the Year. Georgiou was named the OCAA Pitcher of the Year in her 4th year as a Saint. Georgiou led the OCAA with 10 wins, and was among the league leaders with 65 strikeouts and a 1.91 ERA. She is also an OCAA All-Star and was named a Championship All-Star in leading the Saints to an OCAA Silver medal this past fall.
Other nominees for St. Clair were Steve Vagnini (Coach of the Year), Skyler Patteson (Softball), Megan Lumley (Softball), Mike Knight (Volleyball), Shannon Kennedy(Captain’s Leadership Award) and Kyle Breitner (Baseball).
