St. Clair Golf Teams Tie For First Place
The St. Clair College golf teams had another great tournament at the Niagara Knights Invitational on Friday in Welland at the Cardinal Lakes Golf Club.
The St. Clair women tied for first place with the Humber Hawks with a total of 156 (12 over par). Alyssa Cowling (Oldcastle; Villanova) had another good day tied for second individually with a score of 3 over par 75 while teammate Justin Gorham (Amherstburg; L’Essor) shot an 81.
The St. Clair men ‘s team also tied for first place with Humber with a team total of 300 (12 over par) The Saints were led by Steven Hill (Lakeshore, St. Anne’s) who shot an even par 72 and ended up in third place in the individual standings. The other scores that counted for St. Clair were Spencer Higginbottom (Lakeshore; Tecumseh Vista) with a 3 over 75, Cale Marontate (Harrow; Kingsville) had a 4 over 76, and Simon Moir (London; St. Thomas Aquinas) finished at 5 over 77. For the men’s team competition five golfers play with the top four scores counting.
The St. Clair Golf team is currently ranked 3rd in Canada.
The Saints are next in action on Monday, September 23 as they travel to Barrie to take part in the Georgian College Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Club.
