St. Clair Men’s Indoor Soccer Slow Start at Provincials
The St. Clair College men’s indoor soccer team is off to a slow start at the OCAA Men’s Indoor Soccer Championship. The Saints are 0-1-1 after day 1 of round robin play. The Championships are being hosted by Redeemer University in Ancaster.
The Saints struggled to find the back of the net on the day not scoring a goal in either match. In their first match of the day St. Clair played the Mohawk Mountaineers to a 0-0 draw. Shane Beaton (Windsor) earned the clean sheet in goal. In their second match, the Saints lost to the Fanshawe Falcons 1-0.
St. Clair will play two more round robin matches on Friday against the University of Toronto-Mississauga at 2:50 pm and Redeemer at 4:30 pm. The Saints are still in contention for the medal round despite the slow start but will probably require 2 wins to move on. The top two teams from the pool of five will advance to the semi finals on Saturday morning.
St. Clair Women’s Indoor Soccer Off to Good Start at Provincials
The St. Clair College women’s indoor soccer team is off to a good start at the OCAA Women’s Indoor Soccer Championship. The Saints are 2-0 after day 1 of round robin play. The Championships are being hosted by Redeemer University in Ancaster.
In their first match of the morning St. Clair defeated the Sheridan Bruins by a score of 2-0. Emily Ditty (Tecumseh/St. Anne’s) and Cassie Nicholas (Windsor/Holy Names) scored for the Saints while Alexandria Samping (Windsor/Holy Names) earned the clean sheet in goal.
In their second match, the Saints took down the Sault College Cougars 3-0. Goal scorers for St. Clair were Ditty, Kaitlyn Austin (Parkhill/North Middlesex) and Melanie Jubenville (Windsor/ St. Joseph’s). Samping picked up the win and clean sheet.
St. Clair will play two more round robin matches on Friday against Redeemer at 9:50 am and Humber College at 1:10 pm. The top two teams from the pool of five will advance to the semi finals on Saturday morning.
