St. Clair Men’s Indoor Soccer Team Finish First
The St. Clair College Men’s Indoor Soccer Varsity soccer team began their season by taking part in the Royal Cup on Friday hosted by Redeemer University in Ancaster.
The Saints had a great tournament coming in 1st place out of 9 teams taking part.
In round robin play St. Clair went 4-0 to earn first place in their pool. They defeated Centennial College 3-0, University of Laurier-Brantford 6-0, Conestoga College 2-1 and Sheridan College 2-1.
Finishing in first set up the Saints for the Gold Medal game against George Brown College who went 3-0 in their pool. St. Clair came out on top winning the Championship game 2-0. Daniel Wlodlek (Kitchener; Huron Heights) was named the MVP of the tournament. Frankie Calvaruso (Tecumseh; St. Anne’s) and Jacksa Vulovic (Windsor; Riverside Secondary) shared the keeper duties throughout the tournament with both playing outstanding allowing only 2 goals in 5 matches.
The Saints will next be action at the Sheridan Bruins Invitational on Saturday, February 15th.
