St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Rack Up OCAA Awards
The OCAA has announced their men’s volleyball regular season award winners on Wednesday February 14 and the St. Clair Saints program earned lots of hardware.
Topping the list is second year outsider hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) who was named a West Division First Team All Star and OCAA West Division Player of the Year. As the Player of the Year he will also be recognized as a CCAA All Canadian at the CCAA National Championship. Kale was also named OCAA Men’s Volleyball West Division Scoring Champion averaging 4.6 points/set.
Arthur Richard (Woodstock; Woodstock Collegiate) was named to the West Division All Rookie team and was named the West Division Rookie of the Year. Richard led the OCAA in service aces per set with 0.56.
Head Coach Shawn Reaume was named West Division Coach of the Year and OCAA Coach of the Year leading the Saints to a record of 13-5 and tied for second place in the OCAA West. The 13 wins is a season high record for the Saints. Reaume will be the OCAA nominee moving forward for CCAA Coach of the Year.
Third year middle Jonah Certossi (Belle River; Belle River District) and third year setter Nick Kwiatkowski (Essex; Essex District) were named West Division Second Team All Stars.
The Saints are next in action on Sunday at noon at Centennial College taking on the East second place Colts in OCAA Quarterfinal action. The winner will advance to the OCAA Final Four Championship.
St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Also Earn OCAA Awards
The OCAA also announced their women’s volleyball regular season award winners and the St. Clair Saints program earned some major accolades.
Leading the way was third year outsider hitter Kiana Huggins (London; Saunders) who was named a West Division First Team All Star and OCAA Player of the Year. As the Player of the Year she will also be recognized as a CCAA All Canadian at the CCAA National Championship and is the OCAA Nominee for CCAA Player of the Year. Huggins was also named a CCAA All Canadian last season. Huggins was second in the OCAA with 3.55 kills/set with a kill percentage of .325 and second in the OCAA with 4.4 points/set. She also chipped in with 38 aces and 114 digs.
Head coach Julie Ann Milling was named West Division Coach of the Year and OCAA Coach of the Year in her first year at the helm leading the Saints to a record of 16-2 and 2nd place in the OCAA West. She will be the OCAA nominee moving forward for CCAA Coach of the Year.
Second year middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Marantha) and third year libero Mikayla Stocks (LaSalle; Sandwich) were also named West Division First Team All Stars.
Second year setter Emma Clements (Windsor; Holy Names) earned recognition as a West Division Second Team All Star.
Rookie Brianne Hobbin (Guelph; Centennial CV) was named to the West Division All Rookie team as well.
The Saints are next in action on Saturday at 1 pm when they host the Durham Lords (3rd East) in the OCAA Quarterfinal at the Sportsplex. The winner will advance to the Final Four Championship.
