St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Add Top Recruits

The St. Clair College Department of Athletics and men’s volleyball program has announced the signing of five top recruits for the 2022-23 season. The men that will be joining the program are Josh Derksen, Eric Glos, Kale Wilkinson, Zack Myers and Jacob Arsenault-Dufour.

Derksen is a Cottam native where he attended Essex District High School. While there Josh was named the team’s rookie of the year in grade 9 and his team were SWOSSAA and WECSAA Volleyball Champions. The 6’0” Libero also plays club volleyball for Sky Volley Windsor. Derksen will be taking the Pre-Health Science program with plans to advance to one of St. Clair’s outstanding health science programs after that.

Josh is looking forward to joining the Saints. “I chose to accept my offer to play volleyball at St. Clair because I couldn’t help but say yes to continuing my volleyball career and to play alongside my brother (Jacob) after seeing how much he enjoyed it last year.”

Head Coach Shawn Reaume is looking forward to adding Derksen to his roster. “Josh’s quiet confidence and back court leadership will be instrumental in the upcoming season. He offers much to the team with his strength and versatility on the floor and we’re excited to have another Derksen on the roster wearing the green and gold.”

Glos is from Tecumseh where he attended Tecumseh Vista Academy where he was the captain of the volleyball team. Eric is also a member of the Sky Volley Windsor program. Glos is a 6’0” left side hitter who will be taking the Pre-Service Firefighting Education and Training Program.

Eric is excited to come to St. Clair. “I am coming to St Clair College because the firefighting program is one of the best in Ontario and exactly what I am looking for. St Clair volleyball is a great choice for me because the players and coaches are very advanced and I think I will be a great asset to the team,” stated Glos.

“Eric brings with him important experience and leadership from his club team as well as an exemplary work ethic. His aggressive and powerful play style puts him in a position to make his mark in the league on day one and we couldn’t be happier that he’ll be doing so under the Saints banner,” Reaume noted.

Wilkinson is from Windsor and is graduating from Riverside High School. Kale is also a member of the Sky Volley Windsor and has played with both Derksen and Glos. All three recently won Gold with the 18U OVA Sky team at the Bugarski Cup. Wilkinson is a 6’5” outside hitter who will be taking the Protection, Security and Investigation program with plans to move into policing in the future.

Wilkinson can’t wait to join the St. Clair program. “There are several reasons why I chose to attend and play for St. Clair. The top two reasons are that I know and trust the players and coaches and it’s close to home so my family and friends can enjoy the experience with me.”

Reaume is looking forward to the addition of Kale to his lineup. “We are thrilled to have Kale joining us this fall as a Saint. His steady improvement throughout his club career and role as a primary point scorer has set him up to be a big difference maker on the pins for us early on.”

Myers is from Thamesville where he attended Ursuline College in Chatham. At Ursuline he won two MVP awards and his team won the AAA SWOSSA championship in 2019. Zack also has extensive experience with the Chatham Ballhawks club program. With the Ballhawks he won four OVA gold medals. Myers is a 6’3” outside hitter who will be taking the Powerline Technician Program.

Zack can’t wait to get started at St. Clair. “I chose St Clair college because the powerline technician program is one of the best in Canada. The volleyball program is a great place to play with first class facilities and top level coaches.”

“Zack has seen many successes in his high school volleyball career and knows what it takes to win. We look forward to seeing the immediate impact of his electric arm on the court in the Saints uniform as he helps lead us in achieving our goals,” stated Reaume.

Aresenault-Dufour is a Sarnia native where he attended Saint Francois Xavier. While there Jacob was named the team’s MVP in 2018-2019. The 6’8” middle has also played club volleyball for the Twin Bridges Thunder and Chatham Ballhawks. In 2019 he won the OVA Award of Excellence with the Ballhawks and his team won Gold at 2019 OVA Championships. Arsenault-Dufour will be taking the Woodworking Technician program.

Jacob is excited to join the Saints. “I chose St. Clair because of the positive things I have heard about the trades programs. The coaches and staff were also very supportive in answering any questions or concerns I had about school and volleyball during the recruiting process.”

Coach Reaume knows Jacob will be a key player for the Saints next year. “We are excited to have Jacob join us to fill some big, important shoes in the middle next season. His raw talent, size, and coachability will see him making an immediate impact on the court this fall and the sky is the limit as to how far he can go.”
