St. Clair Women’s Soccer Get First Win at Home

The St. Clair women’s soccer team continued their hot play on Wednesday night defeating the Lambton Lions 7-0 at Acumen Stadium.  It was their first home win in their new facility.

The Saints got off to a great start with Tira Copeland (Windsor; Holy Names) scoring off a rebound in the 8th minute. It was all St. Clair for the rest of the night in a well played game by the Saints.

Copeland added another tally and Emma Riccardi (LaSalle; Sandwich) also had 2 goals. Other goal scorers for St. Clair were Alayna Banks (Belle River; St. Anne’s) , Jaclyn French (Windsor; Brennan) , and Natalie Turner (Windsor; Holy Names)

Athena Dimario Done (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) got the win in goal and along with Sydney Hryniw (Windsor; Brennan) earned the clean sheet. The Saints had 21 shots on goal compared to 4 for the Lions.

With the win Saints record improved to 3 wins and a tie on the season. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 5th in Ontario.

The Saints are back in action on Sunday when they host the Conestoga Condors at Acumen Stadium at 2 pm in their final regular season OCAA home game. St. Clair defeated the Condor 3-2 on September 25 in Kitchener.

St. Clair Men’s Soccer Take Down Lions

The St. Clair men’s soccer team defeated the Lambton Lions 8-0 on Wednesday night at Acumen Stadium to earn their first win ever on their new home turf.

The Saints got off to a great start when Massimo Pollard (Windsor; Holy Names) buried one in the back of the net in the 3rd minute of play. St. Clair went up 2-0 in the 8th minute on a nice goal by Austin Severino (Kingsville; Kingsville District). The Saints dominated the play for the rest of the match. Noel Junior (Brazil) and Carlos DaGloria Jr (Leamington; Cardinal Carter) both added two goals each with singles going to Matt Montaleone (Windsor; Holy Names) and Dillon Hayes (Amherstburg; General Amherst) to round out the scoring.

Jonathan Rondinelli (Windsor; Riverside) turned aside all 5 shots he faced to get the win and clean sheet. The Saints had 33 shot attempts with 25 on goal.

With the win Saints record improved to 2 wins and a loss on the season. The St. Clair men are currently ranked 10th in Ontario.

The Saints are back in action on Sunday when they host the Conestoga Condors at Acumen Stadium at 4 pm in their final regular season OCAA home game. St. Clair defeated the Condor 3-1 on September 25 in Kitchener.
