St. Clair Women’s Softball Weekend Update – St. Clair Women’s Softball Win Round Robin Games in North York

The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday in North York as part of OCAA round robin league play hosted at Seneca Polytechnic.  The Saints (9-3) took a 7-0 win over host Seneca and followed it up with an 8-2 victory over Conestoga.

In the second game St. Clair scored three runs in the 3rd and 5th innings before taking an 8-0 lead in the 6th.  Conestoga put up two runs in the 6th but that was the end of the scoring.  Kamryn Coombs (Atwood, ON) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate for the Saints including a double and an RBI.  Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex) hit three singles and scored a run while Ada Umerah (Maple, ON) smashed a 2-run homer as part of her 3-hit and 3-RBI game for St. Clair.  Kirsten Kipfer (Mitchell, ON) pitched five scoreless innings for the Saints to earn her 3rd win of the season giving up just 3 hits and a walk but fanned 8 batters.

St. Clair took the initial game via forfeit as Seneca suffered to many injuries in their previous round robin game to field a lineup.

St. Clair finishes the weekend road trip with two games in Oshawa on Sunday against host Durham College and Lambton College (Sarnia).

St. Clair Women’s Softball Fall Twice in Oshawa

The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team lost two OCAA round robin games in Oshawa Sunday afternoon at Durham College and now have a 9-5 record which stands in a tie for 3rd Place.  The Saints lost 5-3 to host Durham followed by a 4-0 decision with Lambton (Sarnia).

St. Clair tied the opening game with Durham 2-2 in the 3rd inning and then again 3-3 in the 6th inning but surrendered the deciding runs in the bottom half.  Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) had a single and a double that scored a run while Danna Jaurez (Airdrie, AB) took the loss for the Saints after giving 5 runs on 10 hits but struck out 5 over 6 innings.

In the Lambton loss Murphy had three of St. Clair’s six hits but none could produce a run.  Kirsten Kipfer (Mitchell, ON) was the starter for the Saints but was relieved by Jaurez in the 2nd inning after giving up two earned runs.  The St. Clair pitchers combined to only surrender a single hit, but base-on-balls produced enough runners the eventually scored.

The Saints come home next weekend (Sept. 28-29) for doubleheaders at the SportsPark against Conestoga College (Kitchener) on Saturday and Durham College (Oshawa) on Sunday.
